Châtillon-sur-Loire is a French municipality with 3144 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Loiret in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of Montargis and the canton of Gien , it was the capital of the canton of Châtillon-sur-Loire until its dissolution in 2015 .

The municipality is located on the left bank of the Loire , as well as on the parallel canal Canal latéral à la Loire (German: Loire Lateral Canal ). The municipality is located roughly in the middle of the city triangle Orléans - Auxerre - Bourges , in the south a narrow strip of land extends to the border with the Cher department .
Neighboring municipalities of Châtillon are Saint-Firmin-sur-Loire in the north, Ousson-sur-Loire in the east, Beaulieu-sur-Loire in the south-east, Santranges in the south, Cernoy-en-Berry in the south-west and Autry-le-Châtel in the north-west.
