William Mortimer Clark

Sir William Mortimer Clark , KCMG , KC (born May 24, 1836 in Aberdeen , Scotland , † August 10, 1915 in Prouts Neck , Maine ) was a Canadian attorney . From 1903 to 1908 he was Lieutenant Governor of the Province of Ontario .

biography

Clark grew up in the Scottish city of Aberdeen. He graduated from Marischal College and studied at the University of Edinburgh . In 1859 he emigrated to what was then Upper Canada and was admitted to the bar two years later. He campaigned for numerous charities, was a director of a bank and wrote a large number of travel reports. In 1887 he was appointed Crown Attorney . He later taught law at the University of Toronto and Queen's University . Governor General Lord Minto swore in 1903 as Lieutenant Governor of the Province of Ontario. He held this representative office until 1908.
