Guido I of Montlhéry
Guido I. (French: Gui de Montlhéry ; † 1095 ) was a lord of Montlhéry and Bray-sur-Seine from the House of Montlhéry . According to the Historia Francorum des Aimoin de Fleury , he was a son of Theobald von Montlhéry .
He was married to Hoderine von Gometz, who brought him the castles of Gometz-le-Châtel and La Ferté-Baudouin . Through their children, they were primarily connected to important crusader dynasties:
- Milon I († around 1102), lord of Montlhéry and Bray-sur-Seine
- Guido the Red († 1108), Lord of Rochefort, Le Ferté-de-Baudouin and Gometz
- Melisende; ∞ with Count Hugo I von Rethel - the parents of King Baldwin II of Jerusalem
- Elisabeth; ∞ with Joscelin von Courtenay - the parents of Count Joscelin I von Edessa
- Alix; ∞ with Hugo I of Le Puiset († 1094) ( Le Puiset house )
Together with his wife and with the support of the Bishop of Paris, Guido founded the Benedictine priory Notre-Dame of Longpont-sur-Orge in 1061 , which they handed over to twenty-two monks from the Cluny Abbey . Longpont became the first branch of the Clunician monastery association in the region around Paris . According to legend, his wife took part in the construction with her own hands.
Apparently Guido was close to the royal court and was appointed castellan of Rochefort-en-Yvelines in 1068 . He was last mentioned in writing in 1071 as a witness to a royal charter. Then he entered Longpont-sur-Orge Abbey as a simple monk, where he died.
