Ermengarde of Anjou († 1076)
Ermengarde of Anjou called Blanche (* uncertain: 1018; † March 18, 1076 in Fleurey-sur-Ouche ), was the daughter of Count Fulko III. the black of Anjou (Foulques Nerra) and Hildegard.
She married Count Gottfried II von Gâtinais (Geoffrey Ferréol, † April 30, 1043/45, House of Château-Landon ) in her first marriage around 1035 ; from this marriage:
- Gottfried III. the bearded one (Geoffroy le Barbu) († 1096/97), Count of Anjou
- Fulk IV the brawler (Foulques le Réchin) († 1109), Count of Anjou
- Hildegard, ⚭ around 1050 Josselin I, Lord of Courtenay ( House of Courtenay )
When her mother set out on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem in 1046, Ermengarde was already a widow. She married Duke Robert I of Burgundy around 1048 (later called the Old, * 1011, † March 21, 1076, Elder House of Burgundy ); from this marriage she had a daughter:
- Hildegard (* probably 1050, † after 1104, probably 1120); ⚭ 1068/69 Wilhelm VI./VIII. († September 25, 1086) Count of Poitou , Duke of Aquitaine ( Ramnulfiden )
Due to the childless death of her brother Gottfried II , Count of Vendôme and Anjou, in 1060 she inherited the County of Anjou for her sons, while the descendants of her sister Adela received the County of Vendôme. On March 18, 1076, she was murdered together with her husband, Duke Robert of Burgundy in the church of Saint-Fleurey-sur-Ouche. Both were buried in the Abbey of Saint-Seine .
