James Patrick Green (born May 30, 1950 in Philadelphia , USA ) is a Roman Catholic Archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

James Patrick Green received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia on June 14, 1969 through Archbishop John Joseph Cardinal Krol . Pope John Paul II awarded him the honorary title of Chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ) on May 4, 1988 .

On August 17, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . the Titular Archbishop of Altinum and ordered him to Apostolic Nuncio in South Africa and Namibia as well as apostolic delegate in Botswana . He was ordained bishop by Cardinal Secretary of State Angelo Sodano on September 6 of the same year; Co- consecrators were the Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , Ivan Cardinal Dias , and the Archbishop of Philadelphia, Justin Francis Cardinal Rigali . James Patrick Green was also appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Lesotho on September 6, 2006 and Apostolic Nuncio in Swaziland on September 23, 2006 . On October 15, 2011, James Patrick Green became Apostolic Nuncio in Peru .

Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Nuncio to Sweden and Iceland on April 6, 2017 . On June 13, 2017, he was also appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Denmark , on October 12 of the same year as Apostolic Nuncio in Finland and on October 18 as Apostolic Nuncio in Norway .
