Josef-Franz Eckinger
Josef-Franz Eckinger (born December 17, 1904 in Steyr , † October 17, 1941 in Mjedonje ) was a German-Austrian officer .
Eckinger was a Wehrmacht officer and battalion commander in Rifle Regiment 1 of the 1st Panzer Division . On December 31, 1941, he was posthumously awarded the Knight's Cross and the rare posthumous promotion to lieutenant colonel .
Eckinger was mentioned several times in the literature on World War II .
