Josef Čtyřoký (born September 30, 1906 in Smíchov near Prague , † January 11, 1985 ) was a Czechoslovak football player . He was runner-up in 1934 with the Czechoslovak national team .

Player career

Josef Čtyřoký was born in Smíchov, which was incorporated into Prague in 1922 . He started playing football at Slavia Prague , where he made his debut in the 1st Czechoslovak League in the 1925/26 season. In 1928 the left-back moved to SK Kladno , and two years later to Slavia's greatest competitor Sparta Prague . There he formed a defender duo at the highest level with Jaroslav Burgr .

In 1931 Čtyřoký received his first invitation to the Czechoslovak national team and was rarely absent in the next seven years. At the World Cup in 1934 , Czechoslovakia moved into the final, Čtyřoký was in all four games. In the finals four years later he was missing, his last international match completed Čtyřoký on August 28, 1938 in a 3-1 against Yugoslavia in Zagreb. Overall, Čtyřoký played 42 times for Czechoslovakia , a goal he did not succeed.

With Sparta Prague, the defender was Czechoslovakian champion in 1932, 1936, 1938 and champion of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in 1939 . In 1935 he won the Mitropa Cup with his team , in which he had the most appearances with 45 games after his teammate Jaroslav Burgr.
