Josef Aigner (politician, 1884)
Josef Aigner (born March 19, 1884 in Linz ; † August 5, 1947 there ) was an Upper Austrian state official and politician of the Christian Social Party (CS).
Life
He graduated from the Episcopal Gymnasium Petrinum and studied law in Graz . During his studies he became a member of the Catholic student association K.Ö.HV Carolina Graz in the ÖCV . Later he was regional party leader of the CSP Upper Austria, President of the Catholic People's Association and President of the Catholic Day of the Diocese of Linz in 1923.
politics
In 1909 he became an aspirant of the concept office of the regional committee of Upper Austria. In 1918 he became state secretary and in 1921 senior regional councilor. From March 4, 1919 to November 9, 1920 he was a member of the Constituent National Assembly and from November 10, 1920 to June 2, 1934 during the 1st to 4th legislative period he was a member of the National Council . From 1934 to 1938 he was head of the cooperative affairs department in the office of the Upper Austrian provincial government.
Wartime
After the Anschluss , he was forced to retire with half pay as a Catholic and ÖCVer opponent of the National Socialists , and a house search took place. After the unsuccessful assassination attempt on July 20, he was arrested on August 23, 1944 and remained in the police prison in Linz until September 5, 1944 , no involvement in the assassination attempt has been proven.
