Josef Berthold

Josef Berthold (born August 26, 1895 in Trier ; † July 3, 1986 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Josef Berthold attended elementary school and secondary school in Bad Godesberg and then did a commercial training. He worked as a retail salesman and was a soldier in World War I. From 1920 to 1942 he worked for RWE . In 1942 he passed the examination as a state accountant and as a tax and economic advisor and worked from 1943 to 1946 as an assistant in tax matters and then until 1971 as a tax advisor.

In 1931, Berthold, who was a Catholic denomination, joined the SPD and was chairman of the SPD in the Trier-Süd district from 1932 to 1933. During the National Socialist era he was a member of the DAF from 1933 to 1942 , of the NSKOV from 1933 to 1943 and of the NSV from 1934 to 1944 .

After the war he rejoined the SPD and was elected chairman of the SPD in the city and sub-district association of Trier at the founding meeting on April 7, 1946. In 1946/47 he was a member of the Advisory State Assembly of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate. In 1947 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament for a short time. At the party meeting on June 7, 1947, he resigned from his party positions. Both the state of health and political reasons are given as reasons. On October 6, 1947, he left the state parliament and Theodor Asholt moved up for him. This was preceded by allegations about his behavior during the Nazi era, which he could not refute. After leaving the state parliament, he also left the SPD.
