Josef "Pepi" Frühwirth (born May 29, 1907 , † February 1944 ) was an Austrian football player .

Career

Josef Frühwirth played his first championship game for SK Rapid Wien in the 1927/28 season. In the following season, the outside runner came to regular appearances in the fighting team and was able to win the championship title with Rapid. In the Mitropacup , the green-whites reached the final, which was lost 1: 7 and 5: 3 against Ferencvárosi FC , with Frühwirth playing in all competition games. In October 1928 he came to his only assignment in the national team , where he was used as the right runner in the 5-1 win against Hungary .

In the following season, the Hütteldorfer won the championship again, but Frühwirth could not conquer a regular place and left the club at the end of the season. He first joined SC Wacker Vienna and in 1932 moved to newly promoted FC Libertas Vienna , with whom he played in the top division for four years. In 1936 he accepted an engagement with SK Sturm Graz and was able to win the Styrian championship straight away.

He then worked as a player- coach at CA Spora Luxembourg and was able to celebrate winning the national championship in 1938. After his return to Austria he was still active for Floridsdorfer AC and again for Sturm Graz.
