Josef Güttler

Josef Güttler (born March 25, 1895 in Augsburg , † March 30, 1975 in Burgebrach ) was a German politician.

Career

Güttler attended elementary school in Augsburg and Burgebrach and from 1908 to 1910 the agricultural winter school in Bamberg. From 1915 to 1918 he did military service with the Bavarian 11th Field Artillery Regiment and was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class . From 1928 he was self-employed as a master baker in Burgebrach .

Politically Güttler was active in the Catholic boys' and young farmers' movement and in the Upper Franconian farmers' association. From 1925 on he was a member of the district chamber of farmers, in 1928/29 the district council and from 1929 to 1933 the municipal council of Burgebrach. As part of the DC circuit of the Bavarian Parliament he moved in April 1933 as a member of the Bavarian People's Party for the parliament. In World War II he took part as a soldier. After the end of the war he became a member of the CSU and was a member of the local council and 2nd mayor of Burgebrach until 1948. From 1946 to 1972 he was a member of the district council of Bamberg-Land and also deputy district administrator. From 1948 to 1958 he was the first mayor of Burgebrach. In his home parish he was also the CSU local chairman and managing director of the Raiffeisenkasse.
