Josef Heinermann

Josef Heinermann (born October 15, 1895 - † May 29, 1956 ) was a German local politician.

Career

He was born in Warendorf as the fifth of ten children. One of his siblings was Theodor Heinermann (1890–1946). As a teenager he began an apprenticeship as a baker, became a master baker and took over the bakery in 1924 after the death of his father. He married Ludowika Niemer in 1928 and the marriage had 11 children.

Heinermann was politically active at an early age, but left the city council in 1933 so as not to join the NSDAP . He was in the First World War in Poland and Russia and in World War II stationed only in Poland. In 1946 the military government appointed him a city councilor. After the Second World War he co-founded the CDU .

In 1948 Heinermann was unanimously elected mayor of Warendorf by the city council. During the time when Josef Heinermann was mayor, he realized many projects such as B. Housing for refugees, the "new" Emsbrücken or the construction of a new elementary school. Josef Heinermann also received high-ranking visitors in Warendorf, as did Haile Selassi the former Emperor of Ethiopia or the Olympic champion Hans Günter Winkler . On May 29, 1956, Heinermann died unexpectedly of a heart attack.

In Warendorf, the "Josef-Heinermann-Straße" was named after Heinermann.
