Luboš Pistorius

Luboš Pistorius (born December 11, 1924 in Prague , † February 9, 1997 ibid) was a Czech theater director , playwright , organizer and educator .

Life

Pistorius grew up in Prague. From 1945 to 1948 he studied directing at the Prague Conservatory and at the Theater Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He began his artistic career as a director in Ostrava .

From there he moved to Pilsen in 1951 and was director of the local theater from 1953. Between 1960 and 1971 he worked at the Vinohrady Theater as a director and later (1960–1965) as a theater director. From 1971 to 1987 he was active at the Švanda Theater in Smíchov . In the early 1990s he returned briefly to the Vinohrady Theater. He died on February 9, 1997 at the age of 72.
