Josef Hißmann

Josef Hißmann (born November 19, 1907 in Elsen ; † May 25, 1989 in Paderborn ) was a German author .

Life

Hißmann, born on November 19, 1907 in Elsen, initially worked as a railway fitter after attending elementary school . From 1930 he worked as a police officer in the Ruhr area and later as a police sports teacher in Potsdam . In 1935 he was seconded to the Wehrmacht and fought in France , Yugoslavia , Russia and Africa during World War II . After four years as a prisoner of war in Africa, he returned to Germany in 1948. He then worked as a businessman until he retired. He published his first work, Insch Allah , in 1968 , four more followed by 1987. Hißmann was honored in 1982 with the Medal of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany . He died at the age of 81.

Josef-Hißmann-Strasse in his home town of Elsen is named after Hißmann .
