Josef Hofer (politician)

Josef Hofer (born January 22, 1883 in Weigetschlag, today the municipality of Bad Leonfelden , Upper Austria; † March 9, 1948 there ) was an Austrian farmer and politician . Hofer was a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag between 1935 and 1938 during the Austro-Fascist period .

Life

Hofer owned a farm and ran a timber trade. He married in 1906 and they have eight children, seven daughters and one son. He worked in the interest of the general public and is said to have been chairman or chairman of 19 associations (e.g. Catholic Volksverein, Bauernbund , volunteer fire brigade , dairy cooperative). From 1916 to 1938 he was mayor of Weigetschlag and, after the death of Josef Ganglberger, between September 27, 1935 and 1938, he was a member of the state parliament for agriculture and forestry. For his services he was awarded the honorary citizenship of Weigetschlag and the Great Silver Decoration for Services to the Republic of Austria . Hofer died of a stroke in 1948.
