Josef Hollerith

Josef Hollerith (born March 10, 1955 in Munich ) is a German politician ( CSU ) and former member of the German Bundestag .

Life

Hollerith graduated from the Benedictine High School in Schäftlarn in 1975 and then studied adult education and business administration at the University of Munich, which he finished in 1983. During his studies he became a member of the Corps Arminia Munich . Since 1986 he has been a member of the district committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

politics

Hollerith joined the CSU and the Junge Union in 1975. From 1977 on he was district chairman of the Junge Union for ten years and from 1983 to 1991 district chairman in Upper Bavaria. 1985 to 1988 he was also President of the Young Alpine Region . He has been the district chairman of the CSU since 1993 and a member of the Bundestag since 1990. In 2002 he left the Bundestag. His constituency was Altötting ; Hollerith's successor Stephan Mayer won in this constituency in 2002, 2005, 2009, 2013 and 2017.

In 2007, Hollerith was finally sentenced by the Altötting District Court to a one-year suspended prison sentence. He incorrectly billed advertising income from election campaign brochures amounting to around 150,000 euros. His party, the CSU, had to pay a fine of around 88,000 euros. The CSU accepted the corresponding sanction notice from the Bundestag administration .
