Josef Külheim (born May 4, 1902 in Lindlar , † 1961 in Lindlar) was a German author .

Külheim came from an old Bergisch family. He was born in Lindlar as the son of Police Commissioner Johann Külheim. His personal family research led his ancestors back to 1658, to the village of Niederkülheim, today's Unterkülheim near Overath-Immekeppel . After his father was transferred to Essen for work, he attended the Royal High School in Essen after primary school in Essen. Josef Külheim passed his Abitur at the state high school in Jülich. He studied from 1922 to 1926 at the Technical University in Aachen , where he obtained a diploma in electrical engineering.

Initially collecting historical material and small treatises on Lindlar history, especially the parish history of Lindlar and later articles as well as numerous writings in the Bergisch calendar on Rheinisch-Bergische history shaped his extensive research.

Between 1936 and 1957, 242 articles appeared in the homeland sheets of the daily newspapers, which dealt exclusively with research on the closer homeland. In their scientific nature, they are still of great importance as source material for all interested parties in the Bergisch history. Between 1951 and 1962, 32 extensive articles on the Rheinisch – Bergische history appeared in the Bergisch calendar.

Josef Külheim was elected in 1952 as a member of Lindlar's district council in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .
