Josef Lauxtermann
Josef Lauxtermann (born April 16, 1898 , † September 15, 1972 in Düsseldorf ) was a German master baker and a resistance fighter against National Socialism .
Resistance in Düsseldorf
In April 1945 he took part in an action by the citizens of Düsseldorf to surrender the city to the advancing American armed forces without resistance. A few hours before Düsseldorf was liberated, five of his comrades-in-arms were executed, Lauxtermann died in 1972. (See the main article, Aktion Rheinland .)
Honors
Josef Lauxtermann has a grave of honor in the Stoffeler cemetery in Düsseldorf.
