Josef Lukas (pedagogue)

Josef Lukas (born February 6, 1835 in Wies , Styria , † January 26, 1917 in Graz ) was an Austrian educator.

Life

Josef Lukas came from a farming family. From 1854 he worked as a teacher at the normal secondary school and lower secondary school in Graz and later in Maribor . He graduated from high school in 1862 and then passed the teaching examination for the high school for history and geography. From 1874 he was Dr. phil. and head of the teacher training institute and district school inspector in Graz. From 1881 to 1893 he was director of the Wiener Neustadt teacher training college .
