Josef Mittendorfer (politician)

Josef Mittendorfer (born February 10, 1902 in Ebensee ; † March 13, 1990 in Bad Ischl ) was an Austrian politician ( CS / ÖVP ) and salt miner. From 1945 to 1966 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .

After five classes in elementary school, Mittendorfer attended the community school in Bad Ischl and worked as a typist in the saltworks service, where he eventually rose to become the saltworks master. In the political field, he was active between 1919 and 1934 as a shop steward of the Christian saltworks union , was chairman of the Catholic People's Association from 1932 to 1938 and local and district leader of the Freedom League from 1933 to 1936. As a community politician, he also worked as mayor of Ebensee between December 28, 1934 and 1938, and was vice mayor of the community between 1945 and 1966.

After the Second World War he acted as the main district chairman of the ÖVP Gmunden, was district chairman of the Austrian Workers' Association and from 1962 chairman of the Red Cross. Mittendorfer represented the ÖVP between December 19, 1945 and March 30, 1966 in the Austrian National Council.

Mittendorfer was married and the father of four children.
