Josef Nägele

Josef Anton Nägele (born November 18, 1863 in Fraxern ; † May 31, 1938 in Weiler ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP ), farmer and innkeeper. From 1919 to 1923 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

Josef Nägele completed compulsory school, where he attended elementary school in his home town of Fraxern. He was professionally active as a farmer and also worked as an embroidery digger . Furthermore, Nägele worked as an innkeeper and ran the Gasthaus zum Hirschen in Weiler.

Politics and functions

Nägele was a member of the Christian Social Party and a member of the consumer association, where he also chaired the consumer association as chairman. He was also a co-founder of the savings and loan fund Weiler-Fraxern in 1895 and was chairman of this savings and loan fund from 1899 to 1938. Furthermore, Nägele was involved in 1899 as a co-founder of the Eintracht Association and was also a co-founder of the Frastanz brewery cooperative on July 22, 1902 . He was also a co-founder of the Weiler medical district (Weiler, Klaus, Fraxern, Viktorsberg, Röthis, Sulz). Nägele ran for the Christian Social Party in the 1919 state election in the Feldkirch constituency and was subsequently sworn in as a member of the state parliament on June 17, 1919. He belonged to the Vorarlberg state parliament until November 5, 1923 and worked in the state parliament as a member of the finance committee, as a member of the economics committee and as a member of the medical committee. Nägele was also a member of the subsidy committee and chairman of the tax committee.

Private

Josef Anton Nägele was born as the son of Alois Nägele (1837–1907), whereby his father was born and died in Fraxern. His mother Magdalena Nägele, née Summer (1832–1883), however, was born in Weiler. Josef Nägele married Josefa Summer (1860–1908) from Klaus on February 10, 1890 in Weiler. After the early death of his wife, Nägele married a second time on September 20, 1909 in Weiler. His second wife Maria Hämmerle (1884–1965) gave him a son.
