Weiler is a community with 2133 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) on the eastern edge of the Vorarlberg Rhine Valley at the foot of the Freschenstock.
geography
Regionally, the municipality of Weiler is part of the Vorarlberger Vorderland , which is bordered in the north by the Tschütsch and Sattelberg ridge that juts far into the Rhine Valley, in the west by the Rhine and in the east by the foothills of the Freschenstock.
In this climatically favored area in the Vorarlberg administrative district Feldkirch , the municipality extends at an altitude of 445 to 749 meters above the Adriatic Sea . The center of the municipality is located at an altitude of 486 meters. Hamlet has a community area of about 309 hectares.
Neighboring communities
Weiler shares a municipal boundary with four other municipalities in the Feldkirch district. These are the communities of Klaus , Röthis , Viktorsberg and Fraxern . Due to the population growth and the associated construction activity in recent years and decades, Weiler has grown together with the neighboring communities of Klaus and Röthis and fits into the continuous settlement region of the Vorderland.

After the municipal council and mayoral elections in 2015 , the 21-strong local council was made up exclusively of mandataries from the list “mitnand für Weiler”.

Culture and sights
- Parish church Weiler : From 1875 to 1876 the church was rebuilt according to the plans of the architect Friedrich von Schmidt with the builder Fidel Kröner.
- Hanenberg Schlössle: The Hanenberg Castle was built in 1600 as the residence of Feldkirch patricians on a hill above the village. It burned down in 1850 and then it was converted into a country residence.
- Alt-Montfort ruin: Hugo III had this castle northeast of the town near the Fraxern border . von Tübingen , who later called himself Hugo I von Montfort, at the end of the 12th century (mentioned in a document in 1206/08). He called the castle " Montfort ", which means something like "strong mountain" or "strong castle". After this new rulership he called himself from then on " Count of Montfort ". In the Appenzell War in 1405, the complex was completely destroyed and today only a few remains of the wall are preserved and recognizable.
- Kesselschlucht: This deeply cut ravine of the Ratzbach is characterized by a remarkable waterfall and is registered as a biotope worth protecting.
