With 143 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020), Dünserberg is the smallest municipality in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg .
geography
Dünserberg is located in the westernmost state of Austria, Vorarlberg, in the Feldkirch district at an altitude of 1,270 meters. 45.8% of the area is forested, 20.2% of the area of the Alps.

The municipality includes the following two localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):
- Dünserberg (81)
- Schnifnerberg (62)
The community consists of the cadastral municipality of Dünserberg.
Neighboring communities
The small Walser village is located on the mountainside above the Walgau communities Düns and Schnifis .
history
The Habsburgs ruled the places in Vorarlberg alternately from Tyrol and Upper Austria ( Freiburg im Breisgau ). From 1805 to 1814 the place belonged to Bavaria, then again to Austria. For Austrian province of Vorarlberg Dünserberg heard since its founding in 1861. The place was 1945-1955 part of the French zone of occupation in Austria.

Culture and sights
Dünserberg is the only municipality in Vorarlberg without its own church, there are only two chapels in the municipality.
Economy and Infrastructure
In 2010 there were twenty agricultural and forestry holdings in the municipality, six of which were full-time businesses. In 2011 there was no company in the secondary economic sector ; thirty people were employed in eleven companies in the tertiary sector, mainly in commerce.
The number of overnight stays rose from 2,151 in 2008 to 5,711 in 2017.
traffic
During the day, Dünserberg can be reached with the 75a Nenzing - Dünserberg bus of the Vorarlberg transport association to the Winkel plot (altitude around 1290 m). From around mid-July to mid-September, this line is extended for hikers to Älpele to around 1554 m.
ORF broadcaster
The Dünserberg transmitter is located in Dünserberg-Älpele , an 89 meter high reinforced concrete transmission tower for VHF and TV.
education
There is neither a kindergarten nor a school in Dünserberg. Up until the 2010/11 school year, there was one of the smallest elementary schools in Austria in Dünserberg with only one teacher, who taught all four classes at the same time and was also the school director. After only five pupils attended primary school in the 2011/12 school year, however, it was closed. The school children from Dünserberg are now taught in the elementary school in the neighboring village of Düns .

coat of arms
The coat of arms was designed by Konrad Honold . It was awarded on February 18, 1969 and features a silver shield with a blue ibex with black reinforcement rising to the right. The ibex depicted in the coat of arms reminds of the settlement by the Walser (symbol of the free Walser from 1408).
