Parish church Weiler (Vorarlberg)
The Roman Catholic parish church Weiler stands on a hill in the middle of the community of Weiler in the Feldkirch district in Vorarlberg . The parish church , consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus , belongs to the Rankweil deanery of the Feldkirch diocese . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection .
history
The original chapel from 1638, consecrated in 1640, was a branch of the Liebfrauenbergkirche in Rankweil , and was elevated to a parish church in 1708. From 1875 to 1876 a new building was carried out by the builder Fidel Kröner according to the plans of the architect Friedrich von Schmidt .
architecture
The church stands on a hill in the center of the village, with a church tower in front of the street in the west, with a small stair tower with a conical roof in the south characterizing the church. The neo-Gothic building with a nave and a low retracted choir under separate saddle roofs has sacristies added to the north and south of the choir. The nave and choir have a surrounding coffin cornice and pointed arched windows.
The church is accessed via a tower vestibule with groin vault and a subsequent rectangular portal. The hall with a flat wooden beam ceiling has pointed arch arcade niches. The murals of the apostles are by the painter Alfons Luger. The glass paintings of the Tyrolean glass painting establishment show St. John the Baptist, the Heart of Jesus with St. Margaretha Alacoque and St. Francis de Sales .
Furnishing
The high altar as a neo-Gothic winged altar is by Josef Bertsch from 1879 with reliefs of the saints Mechtild, Juliana, Aloysius, Franz Xaver. The outside of the wing shows the Visitation on the left and the Annunciation on the right. The side altars based on a plan by Friedrich von Schmidt and executed by Johann Graber bear figures by the sculptor Kob from the years 1880 to 1882. The Stations of the Cross after Josef Führich were created in 1880. The font is called Merianus dedicavit 1876 . The neo-Gothic choir stalls and the reliefs on the gallery parapet and the former pulpit are by Josef Bertsch.
There is a coat of arms tombstone by Johannes Christoph Sudrell from 1731. The Mayer brothers' organ is from 1976.
