Josef Prager

Josef "Joschi" Prager (born November 15, 1886 ; † 1975 ) was an Austrian soccer goalie who was part of the national team in the early years of Viennese soccer .

Club career

Joschi Prager joined Rossauer Eintracht at the age of 16 , from where he came to Vienna AC via a detour at SK Rapid Vienna . With the Prater team, he won the Challenge Cup in 1904 , the most important cup competition that was played in the early days of Austrian football. Prager stayed with WAC until 1906 before he succeeded Rudolf Wagner in the gate of the Vienna Cricket and Football Club , where he worked for the rest of the decade and also ended his career.

After the First World War , Prager was still active as an arbitrator.

National team

The goalkeeper played his first game for the Austrian national team in June 1904, when a team that included nine WAC players lost 3-0 to the Hungarians in Budapest . In the following years he alternated in the selection goal with Josef Kaltenbrunner and Karl Pekarna and brought it to six internationals, the last in May 1910 in a 2-1 against Hungary.
