Josef Rupp (politician)

Josef Rupp (born September 11, 1895 in Höflein ; † February 16, 1962 in Vienna ) was an Austrian farmer and politician ( CS / ÖVP ). Rupp was a member of the Federal Council in 1934 and a member of the Austrian National Council from 1945 to 1949 .

Rupp attended elementary school and then switched to the community school. After finishing school, Rupp worked as a farmer. Rupp was involved in the Christian Social Party and was a member of Höflein's municipal council from 1929 to 1938 . He also represented the Christian Social Party from April 27, 1934 to May 2, 1934 in the Federal Council ( fourth legislative period ). From 1929 to 1938, Rupp was a member of the Lower Austria Chamber of Agriculture and chairman of the district council of farmers. After the National Socialists came to power in 1938, he was taken into political prison for several months and spent four and a half years in the Buchenwald and Sachsenhausen concentration camps . After that, Rupp lived in exile for 24 months. After the Second World War, Rupp represented the ÖVP from December 19, 1945 to November 8, 1949 in the National Council ( fifth legislative period ).
