Josef Schmall

Josef Schmall (born July 15, 1925 in Andau ; † August 1, 2003 ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and lawyer. Schmall was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 1972 to 1982 .

Life

Schmall was born as the son of the elementary school director Josef Schmall. After elementary school in Andau, he attended grammar school in Vienna and secondary school in Bruck an der Leitha, where he passed the Matura in 1943. He was then drafted into the Reich Labor Service from May to October 1943 and then served in the Navy of the Wehrmacht until 1945 , where he was in British captivity until January 1946. After the end of the war he studied at the University of Vienna and obtained his doctorate in 1949 as “Dr. jur. ". He completed his judicial year in 1949 and then worked from 1950 to 1986 as an employee of the Burgenland Chamber of Agriculture, where he was head of the legal department.

Awards

  • Schmall was appointed senior agricultural councilor in 1960.

politics

Schmall was active within the party from 1969 to 1978 as ÖVP state party secretary and represented the ÖVP in the state parliament from November 3, 1972 to October 29, 1982. He was elected district chairman of the ÖVP senior citizens' union in 1977 and became its executive chairman in 1994.
