Josef Schmitz (theologian, 1925)
Josef Schmitz (born August 4, 1925 in Mainz ; † October 12, 2013 there ) was a German theologian and priest.
Life
From 1957 to 1959 he was a research assistant at the Mainz Catholic Theological Faculty. After receiving his doctorate in 1959 in Mainz as Dr. theol. he was a lecturer at the PTH Freising from 1963 to 1964 . After completing his habilitation in Mainz in 1964, he was a full professor in Freising from 1964 to 1965. From 1965 to 1993 he taught as a professor of fundamental theology and religious studies at the University of Mainz.
