Josef Sobainsky

Josef Sobainsky (born June 22, 1879 in Breslau ; † April 20, 1956 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a visual artist . His work was strongly influenced by Art Nouveau .

After primary school and training as an engraver and chaser , he worked in this profession for several years, but continued his education in a variety of ways, both in artistic and artistic-technical professions. In Wroclaw, he became a city architect before the Second World War . His work as an artist was varied: pictures, posters for advertising and events, company logos, jewelry, building designs, church windows and bookplates ensured that he achieved a high degree of popularity in Silesia . During the Second World War he and his family fled to Frankfurt am Main. Here he continued his work in Darmstadt, Frankfurt, Bavaria and the Palatinate until he died on April 20, 1956 in Frankfurt am Main.

In the course of his life he was awarded 26 art prizes. He left 4 children from 2 marriages. His descendants are still active as an artist and have produced painters, photo artists, musicians and actors.
