Josef Stiren (born January 14, 1930 in Bath near Bitburg in the Eifel ; † April 20, 2003 in Mürlenbach ) was a priest in the Trier diocese from 1955 until his death : as a chaplain in the Assumption of Mary in Andernach , Morbach and Kempenich ; as pastor in Irrel , Konz-St. Nikolaus, Mertesdorf , Gerolstein-Rockeskyll, Trier-St. Irminen, Lieser and most recently as a chaplain in the Don-Bosco-Haus Mürlenbach.

Life

Josef Stiren studied in Trier theology and received on 26 March 1955, the sacrament of Holy Orders . He celebrated the Primiz (first Holy Mass) on March 27, 1955 in Baden (see picture).

In the field of the new sacred song, Josef Stiren made a name for himself nationwide as a lyricist. One of the best-known works is the song “With Jesus on the Way” - in Praise of God under song number 763 (Diocese of Augsburg) - which deals with the resurrection of Jesus Christ . He was known regionally for his words about the Sunday readings as well as his text and image mediations, which appeared mainly in the diocese newspaper PAULINUS.

During his time as pastor, Stiren had the following churches built: 1961/62: St. Ambrosius, Irrel 1975/76: St. Martin, Mertesdorf (architect: Peter van Stipelen)
