The Streitschlag viaduct is a 256.2 meter long bridge on the Federal Highway 71 in Germany .

The structure is located in Thuringia at kilometer 137 between the Suhl motorway junction and the Meiningen- Nord motorway junction . It spans a valley in the forest between Ebertshausen and Wichtshausen in the Streitschlag district at a maximum height of 33 m with six fields. The bridge has a clothoid in plan with A = 500. The longitudinal gradient is a constant 0.8% to the south. The overpass with two separate superstructures was built between 2000 and 2002 at a cost of around 6 million euros.

Foundation and substructures

The abutments and pillars have a flat foundation on the red sandstone . The pillars are between 11 m and 30 m high. These have a trapezoidal full cross-section with dimensions that are constant over the height. The two pillars of a superstructure are connected at their heads by crossbars.

Superstructures

Box-girder cross-section of a prestressed concrete bridge

The two adjacent superstructures of the prestressed concrete bridge are continuous girders with a hollow box cross-section and a constant construction height of 3.0 m. The prestressing consists only of external tendons .

The span for the 6-span bridge is 38.1 m + 4x45.0 m + 38.1 m.

execution

The bridge was built using the incremental launching process in twelve cycles with regular cycle lengths of 22.5 m. The Streitschlag viaduct is one of the first bridges in Germany to use the incremental launching method with exclusively external pre-tensioning.
