The Albrechtsgraben viaduct is a 770 m long arch bridge on the 71 motorway near Suhl .

The structure is located at kilometer 131.0 directly after the Suhl motorway triangle in the direction of the Meiningen -Nord motorway junction . It spans the Albrechtsgraben, a valley between the communities of Mäbendorf and Albrechts , with state road 2630 at a maximum height of 80 m. Since the bridge can be seen from afar, the decision was made in favor of an arch bridge with a steel composite structure as a one-piece superstructure. This also did justice to the nature reserve strip and the topography of the valley. The motorway has a clothoid (A = 1200) for a length of 316 m, starting at the western abutment , followed by a circular arc (R = 3000 m) for a length of 309 m and finally a clothoid (A = 474). The overpass was built between 1999 and 2002 at a cost of around 24 million euros.

founding

The abutments have a flat foundation on embankments, the pillars on the red sandstone .

pier

The reinforced concrete pillars are between 17 m and 65 m high, they have a hollow cross-section and are accessible. The external dimensions of the pillars are 8.8 m across the bridge and between 2.5 m and 3.2 m in the longitudinal direction.

superstructure

The bottom plate of the box cross-section is 8.3 m wide, the webs of the main girders are inclined and support the deck at a distance of 11.0 m. In addition, the deck is supported on the outside by diagonal struts approximately every 5 m. The construction height of the entire superstructure is a constant 4.5 m. The spans of the 14-field superstructure are 45 m + 55 m + 60 m + 3 × 70 m + 45 m + 40 m + 40 m + 45 m + 70 m + 60 m + 55 m + 45 m.

The rest point in the longitudinal direction is in the middle of the arch.

The arch was made within four months on falsework supported by lattice towers .
