Tame Gera valley bridge

The Zahme Gera Viaduct is a 520 m long girder bridge , clamped into the pillars, with a prestressed concrete superstructure and field widths of 115 m in the edge openings and 145 m in the two central openings.

The bridge is located as part of A 71 in the Thuringian Forest between junctions Ilmenau -West and Graefenroda and spans at Geraberg m at a height of about 63 with a plan radius of 1500 m the valley of the Zahmen Gera the road from Geraberg according Angelroda. The bridge was built with two separate superstructures between 1999 and 2002.

Substructures

The abutments are founded flat. The three piers are founded in pairs on 3.0 m thick pile head plates with the dimensions 7.00 m × 26.75 m and 26 large bored piles . The piles have a diameter of 1.20 m and a length of up to 29 m. The pillars with a maximum height of 63.5 m to the lower edge of the superstructure have a distinctive Y-shape. They are hollow and accessible up to a height of about 30 m. The pillar forks with a full cross-section have a height of 20 m and a spacing of 25 m. With wall thicknesses of 50 cm to 70 cm, the main dimensions of the pillars increase by tightening 6.0 m × 3.5 m at the lower edge of the fork node to 6.0 m × 4.5 m on the foundation.

Superstructures

The superstructures are single-cell, haunched, prestressed hollow boxes made of prestressed concrete . In the pillar axes, these are monolithically connected to the pillar forks. This means that there is a frame construction that only requires bearings on the bridge abutments, where the bridge can be moved by ± 35 cm. The construction height of the box girders is 3.8 m in the middle of the field and increases to 6.7 m up to the supports on the pillar forks. The two superstructures are each around 14.5 m wide and have internal and external pre-tensioning .

execution

The bridge was up to the end panels, which on falsework were formed, as the balance beam in the cantilever produced. The pillars were braced in order to reduce the required reinforcement in construction stages with load centers.
