The Apfelstädt Viaduct is a 293 m long girder bridge on the 71 motorway .

The structure is located between the Erfurt- Bindersleben junction and the Erfurt motorway junction . At Ingersleben, it spans the Apfelstädt River as well as the Thuringian Railway and Landstrasse 2154 between Ingersleben and Erfurt-Bischleben at a maximum height of 25 m . The bridge was built with two separate superstructures at a cost of 16 million DM in 1997 and 1998.

Substructures

The pillars with a maximum height of 18 m to the lower edge of the superstructure have a full cross-section. The dimensions of the rectangular pillars are reduced by a taper of 1:70 to the dimension of 4.2 m × 1.9 m at the constriction, which is 3.5 m below the pier head. Above the constriction, the cross-section to accommodate the bridge bearings widens to 6.1 m × 2.7 m.

Superstructures

The two adjacent superstructures of the prestressed concrete bridge have the continuous beam as a structural system in the longitudinal direction . In the transverse direction there is a box girder cross-section with a constant construction height of 2.6 m in both end spans. In the three central fields, the superstructures are haunched, with a maximum of 5.35 m above the two central pillars and 2.60 m in the middle of the field. The two deck slabs are together 28.5 m wide. The prestressing consists of internal tendons .

The eastern superstructure has five fields with a total span of 258 m. The individual spans are 47 m, 53 m, 76 m, 47 m and 35 m. The western superstructure has one more field and with individual support spans of 35 m, 47 m, 53 m, 76 m, 47 m and 35 m a total support span of 293 m.
