The Streichgrund viaduct is a 450 m long girder bridge . It is located on the BAB 71 in the Thuringian Forest between the Ilmenau -Ost and West junctions and spans a valley with the natural biotope of the Streichtich, the Wiesenbach and the L2272 between the Ilmenau districts of Unterpörlitz and Heyda at a maximum height of 27 m.
The bridge is curved in plan, has a transverse gradient of 2.5% and rises towards Schweinfurt. It was built with two separate superstructures between 2000 and 2002. The cost was 29 million DM.
Substructures
The middle three pillars are founded on large bored piles , the remaining four pillars and the abutments have a flat foundation . The maximum pillar height is 23 m.
Superstructures
The span of the eight-span north superstructure is 35 m + 45 m + 55 m + 65 m + 85 m + 70 m + 54 m + 40 m, the south superstructure is 37.6 m + 48 m + 57 m + 70 m + 85 m + 65 m + 50 m + 37.4 m. The three middle bridge fields with the large spans above 57 m are haunched over two supports and have a maximum cross-sectional height of 4.0 m. The shorter edge fields have a constant height of 2.5 m. The superstructures of the steel composite bridge have a 5.5 m wide steel trough at the bottom and a 14 m wide haunched reinforced concrete deck connected with headed dowels .
