Heyda is a district of the city of Ilmenau in the Ilm district ( Thuringia ).

geography

Heyda is about six kilometers north of Ilmenau. The Heyda dam , east of the village, is fed by the Wipfra river, which, however, has its course outside the village area. Another inlet to the lake is a small stream that meanders through Heyda. The landscape in the area is characterized by sandy pine forests. To the west and northwest of Heyda rise the Reinsberge , to which the Heydaer Berg at 503.7 meters belongs.

history

Heyda was first mentioned in a document in 1341. Between 1688 and 1920 it belonged to Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach . The previously independent community has belonged to the city of Ilmenau since 1994. Around 1700 Heyda was half destroyed by fire. The church also burned down and many documents were destroyed.
