geography

church

Bücheloh is located in the valley of the Humbach , a tributary of the Ilm at an altitude of about 470 meters. The place is a street village that stretches for about two kilometers on the B87 .

history

Bücheloh was first mentioned in 1282. The place name was probably derived from Albert Buchilowe , a founder of the Paulinzella monastery . As early as 1450 there were reports of a first school in Bücheloh. In 1535 the place was granted brewing rights. The year the Romanesque village church originates from is unknown; it was rebuilt and enlarged in 1729.

Until 1920 Bücheloh was an exclave of the Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt supremacy belonging Office Stadtilm . From 1920 to 1952 the place belonged to the district of Arnstadt . The district was divided in 1952 and Bücheloh was henceforth part of the Ilmenau district . In 1994 the districts of Ilmenau and Arnstadt were reunited. Since April 6, 1994 Bücheloh belonged to the unified community Wolfsberg. This was incorporated into the city of Ilmenau on July 6, 2018 with other communities.

politics

The honorary mayor of Büchelohs has been Nico Franz since 2009. He was last confirmed in office in the local elections in Thuringia on May 26, 2019. Together with four other members, it forms the Bücheloh district council.

coat of arms

Blazon : "In gold, a green beech that grows from a green mountain that is covered with four golden ears and is topped by two other green mountains."

The coat of arms with the heraldic stylized green beech in the golden field is eloquent. The golden ears of wheat symbolize agriculture; the green mountains refer to the relief and the location of the village on the north-eastern edge of the Thuringian Forest.

The coat of arms was designed by the heraldist Frank Diemar .

Culture

Bücheloh has one of the oldest churches in the area. It comes from the Romanesque period.

In 1995 a home parlor was opened, which explains the local history.

Bücheloh has a fair, an allotment garden, a hunting club and a fire department. These associations make a significant contribution to the cultural life of the place.
