The Heydaer Berg between Plaue and Ilmenau in the Thuringian Ilm district is a ridge of the Reinsberge and at the neck cap with 605.4 m above sea level. NHN , just before the better-known Reinsburg ( 604.1 m ), the highest point in the Reinsberge.
Geography and geology
The Heydaer Berg, located at the southern end of the Reinsberge and at the northeast end of the Heydaer Berg, extends between Schmerfeld in the northeast, Heyda in the southeast, Martinroda in the southwest and Neusiß in the northwest. It is about 4 kilometers long and a maximum of 1 km wide. Its southern continuation is the Veronikaberg ( 552.2 m ), which closes the Reinsberge to the south .
The mountain is a shell limestone formation and lies on the southeastern border of the Ohrdrufer Platte against the Paulinzellaer Buntsandsteinland .
Summit key data
The neck cap towers above the confluence ( 327.4 m ) of the Zahmer and Wilder Gera rivers located 3 km northwest in Plaue by 278 meters, the Prolle 1.5 km southeast ( 406.4 m ) by 199 m and the Heyda dam to the southeast ( Target height 416.6 m ) by 188.8 m. Its dominance extends about 7 km to the southwestern Thuringian Forest at a notch height of almost 170 m.
