Industrial railway bridge

The Steinatal Viaduct is a 445 m long bridge on the 71 motorway .

The structure is located at kilometer 126 at the Suhl / Zella-Mehlis junction. In the south of the town of Zella-Mehlis, it spans the Steina brook, federal road 62 , which connects Suhl and Zella-Mehlis , the parallel Neudietendorf – Ritschenhausen railway, and the site of a former thermal power station with four siding.

The structure consists of the nine-span main bridge and the five-span industrial railway bridge to the west. There are also two ramp bridges with three or two fields for the connection point. The bridge has a ground plan radius of 775 m. The longitudinal gradient is a constant 2.2% to the west. The overpass was built with two separate superstructures between 1997 and 1999, at a cost of around 13 million euros.

Foundation and substructures

The piers and abutments are based on large bored piles with a diameter of 1.5 m and lengths between 5 m and 15 m. The rectangular pillars have a full cross-section with the dimensions 2.2 m × 2.2 m and are up to 17 m high. The main and industrial bridges are located on a common separating pillar, which is designed as a pillar disc with external dimensions of 4.96 m × 29.35 m.

Superstructures

The two adjacent superstructures of the prestressed concrete bridges are continuous girders with a two-web T-beam cross- section . The longitudinal prestressing consists of internal tendons .

Main bridge

The main bridge has a constant height of 1.85 m and a lower web width of 2.0 m, with the superstructure in the bearing axes being designed without cross members. Two ramp bridges branch off from the superstructure for the direction of Schweinfurt in the middle of the bridge. The spans of the 340.5 m long 9-span bridge are 30.0 m + 2 × 37.5 m + 40.0 m + 2 × 45.0 m + 40.0 m + 37.5 m + 28, 0 m.

Industrial railway bridge

Due to the cross slope of around 4%, the superstructures of the industrial railway bridge over the connecting tracks of the heating power station each have a footbridge with a constant height of 1.0 m and one with a height of 0.7 m. The spans of the 101.9 m long 5-span bridge are 19.8 m + 24.4 m + 20.4 m + 20.3 m + 17.0 m.

Ramp bridges

The ramps have single-web T-beams as superstructures, the construction height is 1.4 m, the deck width 9.0 m and the lower web width 5.25 m. The two-span ramp to the approach to Schweinfurt is 55 m long with spans of 27.5 m + 27.5 m, the 79 m long three-span ramp to the exit from Erfurt has spans of 24.5 m + 30.0 m + 24.5 m . Separation pillars are at the transition between the main bridge and the ramps.

execution

Feed scaffolding of a T-beam bridge

The main and industrial railway bridges were built with a telescopic arm, which was supported on transverse yokes, which were anchored in pillar recesses via plug-in girders. The ramp bridges were built with falsework .
