The Maibach viaduct is a 422.5 m long viaduct on the federal highway 71 in Bavaria , which lies between the Poppenhausen junction and the Maibacher Höhe car park. The structure lies between the villages of Poppenhausen and Maibach and crosses the Maibach, a left tributary of the Wern , at a maximum height of 35 m .

The bridge was built between 2001 and 2003 for around 10 million euros. The spans of the nine-span, symmetrical bridge are 32.25 m for the end span, followed by 39 m, 50 m and 55 m for the inner spans and 70 m for the middle span. Like most of the larger bridges on the A 71, the Maibachtal Bridge was built using the incremental launching method . The superstructure consists of two pre - stressed concrete hollow boxes lying next to each other , which have the continuous beam as a structural system in the longitudinal direction . There is a box cross-section in the transverse direction. The prestressing consists of a mixed construction with internal and external tendons . The full cross-section of the pillars consists of a rectangle with rounded end faces. The pier heads widen at the top to accommodate the bearings .

The bridge area is 12,041 m². 15,200 m³ of concrete, 1,757 t of reinforcing steel and 410 t of prestressing steel were used.
