Red Valley Viaduct
The Red Valley Viaduct is a 406 m long bridge on Autobahn 71 . This makes it the longest T-beam bridge on this traffic route.
The structure is located at km 142 between the Suhl motorway triangle and the Meiningen -Nord motorway junction and crosses a flat valley basin. The municipal road from Rohr to Kühndorf is spanned at a maximum height of 19 m with twelve bridge fields . The bridge has a circular radius of 1500 m in plan, which merges into a clothoid with A = 1000. The longitudinal gradient is a constant 0.8% to the north. The overpass was built with two separate superstructures between 2000 and 2002 at a cost of around 8 million euros. In relation to the bridge area, the structure is one of the cheapest bridges at 750 euros / m². The following Schwarza viaduct was z. B. 50% more expensive.
Foundation and substructures
The abutments and pillars are based on large bored piles with a diameter of 1.3 m. Six piles were arranged under the pile head slabs in the column axes, eight piles per pair of piers are present in the three central axes under the fixed piers. The square pillars with heights between 10 m and 19 m have a full trapezoidal cross-section. To accommodate the bearings , the pier heads are connected to one another by cross bars.
Superstructures
The two adjacent superstructures of the prestressed concrete bridge are continuous girders with a T-beam cross-section and constant construction heights of 1.8 m. The prestressing consists of internal tendons . The superstructure has no cross beams in the bearing axes. The moving point of rest in the longitudinal direction is in the middle of the bridge, where the superstructure on three pillars immovably mounted is.
The spans for the 12-span bridge are 28.0 m + 10 × 35.0 m + 28.0 m.
execution
The bridge was built with a telescopic arm, which was supported on transverse yokes, which were anchored in pillar recesses via plug-in girders.
