Josef Thoman

Josef Thoman (born December 16, 1923 in Innsbruck ; † October 20, 2003 there ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From 1979 to 1989 he was President of the Tyrolean Parliament .

Live and act

Thoman came out of the Christian-German gymnastics club. After graduating from secondary school in Innsbruck, the nineteen-year-old was drafted into military service on the Eastern Front. On September 1, 1941, he was accepted into the NSDAP (membership number 8,549,897). After the end of the war, the seriously wounded returnees worked in the Innsbruck city administration and was involved in the Tyrolean War Victims Association. From 1979 to 1989 he was President of the Tyrolean Parliament, from 1977 to 1979 also the City Council of Innsbruck and active in the finance, personnel, environmental and social committees.
