Wymark is a hamlet ( Hamlet ) in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan . It is located in the southeast of the parish Census Division No. 8. Highway 628 runs near the village . 2 km north of Highway 628 is Highway 363 , which is about 15 km from the small town of Swift Current .

Wymark is one of the so-called "Organized Hamlets" , which were founded by a ministerial order and are recognized by Statistics Canada as designated locations.

history

The place was founded in 1912 by Russian immigrants. A year later, the local post office was also established.

In the late 1920s, small groups of Mennonites immigrated to the area and settled down. a. also settled in and around Wymark. In 1927 Benjamin Ewert founded the so-called Emmaus Church Group ; a few months later, the community built the Emmaus Mennonite Church on the outskirts of the village. This church still exists today and is mainly used for church services.

Wymark is in the extreme southeast of the Census Division No. 8 in Swift Current Rural Municipality No. 137 . The place is at an altitude of 881 m above sea level and has an area of ​​about 0.30 km². Agriculture, which is intensively practiced in the Wymark area, is a major industry.

In 2006 the population of the village was around 144 people. By 2011 the population decreased by 2.7%. During the great 2011 census, around 130 people currently live in Wymark. According to the 2016 census, the number of people rose by 6.2% to 138 inhabitants.
