Josef Wahl (soccer player)

Josef Wahl (born March 28, 1943 ) is a former Austrian national soccer player . As a defender , he was part of the Admira team, which won the double in 1966.

Career

Josef Wahl was first used in the championship for the Admira in the 1963/64 season. In this game year the Admirans were able to win the cup, but he was not in the winning team, which defeated Austria 1-0 in the final . Josef Wahl had been part of the regular formation of the Abwehr der Jedleseer since the fall season of 1964 . He experienced his most successful season as a player in 1966. With his team he was able to win the championship ahead of Rapid and defeat the green-whites 1-0 in the cup final. Josef Wahl was used in all games. On October 5, 1966, just a few months after the title celebration in Jedlesse, Josef Wahl played for the first time in the Austrian national team.

After it set a defeat in this friendly against Sweden , Josef Wahl was not called up again. After two more years with Admira, which was meanwhile based in Maria Enzersdorfer Südstadt , Josef Wahl accepted an offer from Wiener Austria. However, this usually parked the defender on the bench. As a substitute for Robert Sara , Josef Wahl only appeared in six championship games, but at least at the end of the season he was able to look forward to his second championship title. The defender finally decided to move to First Vienna FC , for which he played three more seasons and was also used regularly.
