Josefa Lang

Josefa Lang , also Josephine Lang , married Josefine Flerx ( 1791 in Munich - October 7, 1862 in Hietzing ) was a German theater actress .

Life

In 1808 Lang joined the Association of the Court Theater in Munich, to which she belonged for a number of years both as a lover and as a singer. In 1827 she, who enjoyed great popularity during her artistic career, retired (at the age of 36!) And then moved to Vienna, where she died on October 7, 1862.

One of her most recognized achievements was the “Zerlina” in Don Juan , as well as “Lisette” in Caesario .

family

Lang was the daughter of the actress Marianne Lang (1764-1835) and the horn player Martin Lang (1755-1819). Her siblings were the violinist Theobald Lang (1783–1839), the bassoonist Franz Xaver Lang (1791–1862) and Margarethe Lang (1788–1861). She was married from April 1810 to the dancer and comedian Karl Flerx .

She was buried in the Hietzinger Friedhof (group 6, number 33) in Vienna.
