Josefa Trumme

Maria Josefa Trumme , née Hausfeld (born September 17, 1919 in Wenstrup , † February 16, 2017 in Handorf ) was a German housewife .

Career

Josefa Hausfeld came to Handorf at the age of 20 after she married August Trumme († 1997) . She and her husband raised 15 children.

From September 1944 until the invasion of the Allied troops in April 1945, she hid the Dominican Father Laurentius Siemer in the house of her in-laws , who was wanted by the Gestapo because he was involved in the preparation of the assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944. A reward of 50,000 Reichsmarks was offered for his arrest .

For their selfless efforts, it was in 1993 by the President with the Order of Merit Award of the Federal Republic of Germany.
