Josefine Paul (born March 2, 1982 in Helmstedt ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) in North Rhine-Westphalia .

biography

Josefine Paul comes from the Helmstedt district of Barmke . In 2001 she passed her Abitur examination at the Julianum high school and then studied history, political science and sociology until 2008, first at the Technical University of Braunschweig , then from 2005 at the University of Münster . The active soccer player wrote her master's thesis on “The beginnings of soccer in Germany as a school game. A study using the example of the city of Braunschweig. "

From October 2009 until starting her state parliament mandate, she worked as a teacher in Dortmund.

politics

Paul has been a member of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party since 1999. During her studies in Münster she was the coordinator of the specialist forum "LesBiSchwul" of the Green Youth . In the state elections in 2010 , 2012 and 2017 she was elected to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia via the state list of her party . From 2010 to 2012 and since 2015 she has been deputy chairwoman of the Green parliamentary group. In the 17th electoral term of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament (since 2017) she is parliamentary group manager, spokeswoman for children, youth and family, spokeswoman for women's and queer politics and spokeswoman for sports policy.

In December 2018, she attracted media attention with statements about Knecht Ruprecht . Knecht Ruprecht no longer fits into today's education with a non-violent upbringing, so Knecht Ruprecht can help with carrying the sweets.
