Joseph A. Komonchak

Joseph A. Komonchak (born March 13, 1939 in Nyack , USA ) is a Roman Catholic theologian.

Komonchak was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of New York on December 18, 1963 . In 1964 he obtained a licentiate in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . In 1976 he received his PhD from Union Theological Seminary in New York. From 1967 to 1977 he taught as a professor of theology at St. Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers . In 1977 he became professor of theology at the Catholic University of America in Washington. His research interests include the theology and history of the Second Vatican Council . His essays in the journal Concilium , his contribution to the anthology published by Giuseppe Alberigo and Hermann Josef Pottmeyer , The Reception of the Second Vatican Council (Düsseldorf 1986) and his contribution to the first volume of Giuseppe Alberigo's history of the Second Vatican Council ( Mainz 1997).
