Joseph Anthony Farrell
Joseph Anthony Farrell (born September 15, 1955 in Augusta ) is an American classical philologist .
Life
He received an AB from Bowdoin College in Classics in 1977 and a Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Classics with Agnes Kirsopp Lake Michels . Since 1998 he has taught as Professor of Classical Studies at the University of Pennsylvania .
Farrell's research focuses on Latin literature, particularly the poetry and culture of the Republican and Augustan periods.
