Joseph Egg

Joseph Egg (* 1775 ; † 1837 ) comes from a family of gunsmiths from Oberbuchsiten in the canton of Solothurn, known throughout Europe . He was the nephew of the London gunsmith Urs (aka Durs) Egg . Joseph was one of the best gunsmiths in England and is considered the (or one of) the inventor of the ignition element for after the Napoleonic Wars newly emerging percussion rifles .

His workshop was in Piccadilly, County of Middlesex , which is now in the middle of Greater London .
